From registering your account to preparing final messages and uploading important files, this guide walks you through each stage clearly and confidently.
Go to the registration page and enter the email address you want to use for Heritage Herald.
Create a password with at least six characters, including a mix of upper-case and lower-case letters, numbers or special characters.
Check your inbox and select the confirmation link to activate your account.
Go to the log-in page and enter your email address that you selected to use with Heritage Herald together with your password.
In the event that you enter an incorrect log-in email or password, you will be asked to re-enter the details again.
If you are unable to remember your password, you will be invited to enter a new password which will require you to confirm by email as required for registration.
Before preparing your legacy messages we advise you to prepare a test routine that Heritage Herald can perform. This will provide you with the certainty that Heritage Herald will carry out your wishes faithfully and allow you to see how the platform responds to your instructions.
On accessing the dashboard, the member will see that all ‘wait’ periods can be changed between 1-52 hours (for testing), days or weeks. Be sure to adjust the wait periods when setting up for your legacy messages.
Add people to one or both contact groups:
Appointed Contacts (Tier 1) Trusted people who can confirm whether your instructions should continue.
Message Recipients (Tier 2) People who will receive your personal message and any files you choose to share.
The same person can be included in both groups, but their details must be entered separately in each section.
Appointed Contacts are notified if Heritage Herald is unable to confirm that you are active.
They receive an email explaining that the process has started and are asked to decide whether your messages should be released.
You can use the pre-written message provided or edit it to suit your preferences.
Once one Appointed Contact confirms the release, the process can move to your Message Recipients.
Message Recipients (Tier 2) receive a personal message written by you.
Select Edit to write or update each message. You can also create a secure link to files stored in your repository.
Select Update when you have finished editing.
Use the dashboard to save your settings, activate the process or stop it at any time.
Always select Save after changing waiting periods, contacts or messages.
When you are ready, turn the activation switch on. It will turn green once active. Remember to save again so the process remains active when you log out.
Your repository is where you can securely store important files and folders.
Select Create Folder to organise your documents. Name the folder, then open it to upload files from your computer.
You can create multiple folders to keep everything clearly organised.
Once active, Heritage Herald will send you scheduled check-in emails based on the timings you selected.
If you respond to any check-in or reminder, the process resets and continues as normal.
If no response is received after all reminders, your Appointed Contacts will be contacted. They can then confirm whether your messages should be released to your Message Recipients.
Heritage Herald records which Appointed Contact confirmed the release and when this happened.
Trusted confirmation contacts who help verify whether the process should continue.
People who receive your final messages, documents, or secure file links.
Before preparing final legacy messages, run a test routine to make sure you understand the process and feel confident using the platform.
Tier 1 recipients (Appointed Contacts) are trusted people who confirm whether your messages should be released if you don’t respond.
Tier 2 recipients (Message Recipients) are the people who receive your personal messages and any shared files.
